“There’s no place like home.” That’s the tagline for this year’s Hölstein Edition. Oris has a special affection for its hometown of Hölstein. To show its affection, Oris has been releasing a limited edition called the Hölstein Edition every year on its birthday, June 1, since 2020. The Hölstein Edition began with a full bronze model of the Sixty Five Chronograph in 2020, followed by the Big Crown Calibre 403 in 2021, the full steel Worldtimer in 2022, the Aquis in 2023, and last year’s Sixty Five, in which the dial, indexes, and case were all black.
A unique feature of the Hölstein Edition is that the brand’s mascot, the Oris Bear, is hidden on the case back in a different way for each model. The first Hölstein Edition featured the Oris Bear in a suit, while the Big Crown Calibre 403 featured the Oris Bear in a polo shirt. Since then, the Oris Bear’s outfit has changed to reflect the character of the collection. For example, the Full Steel Worldtimer features the Oris Bear as a pilot, the Aquis as a scuba diver, and the Sixty Five as a swimsuit and sunglasses. The fun of the Hölstein Edition is trying out which model the Oris Bear will appear in each year. This year, the Oris Bear was featured on ProPilot.replica watches
The new product follows the typical grammar of the ProPilot collection. It has the typical appearance of ProPilot, from the bezel reminiscent of the turbine blades of an aircraft jet engine, to the large applied Arabic indexes, to the alpha hands that end like sword hands. The case size is also the familiar 41mm. The case is made of steel with a black DLC coating, and the hands and indexes are also in black to match. The dial is a contrasting white.
The existing ProPilot had Arabic indexes and hands that were luminous. The new product is the complete opposite, with no luminous indexes or hands at all. This is because the white dial right below is a full-lume dial that is entirely luminous. The reason why a full-lume dial was introduced for the first time in the collection is because it appears when the lights are turned off. The Oris Bear appears at the 3-4 o’clock position on the dial. The Oris Bear, which has appeared in witty outfits every year since 2022, is embarrassed to appear in front, so this time it looks tame.
The case back, where the Oris Bear is absent, reveals the automatic in-house Caliber 400, which is already five years old this year. The main specifications are Oris’s ambitious work that has been completed with 10 years of know-how since the first in-house Caliber 110 in 2010. It has an impeccable performance, including a daily tolerance (-3/+5 seconds) that exceeds COSC standards, high anti-magnetism (up to 2,250 gauss) achieved by actively using non-magnetic materials such as silicon, and a power reserve of 120 hours. The luminous ring on the glass is engraved with the words “Hölstein Edition 2025.”
The Oris Hölstein Edition 2025 (Ref. 01 400 7803 4781-Set) is paired with a textile strap, often seen in the ProPilot collection, and a lift clasp inspired by aircraft seat belts. The new product is limited to a total of 250 pieces. The domestic release price is 7 million won.
